What is it?

MyHealthTM: Your Personal Health Connection" from EPIC Systems Corp., is a web-based service that allows patients of Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates to have secure access to portions of their electronic medical record and to communicate with their Harvard Vanguard clinicians online.

How can MyHealth assist me?

MyHealth allows you to manage your personal health information at your own convenience. You will be able to:

  • send and receive secure messages from your primary care physician's office
  • review upcoming appointments
  • request an appointment
  • review immunizations
  • review test results

Any patient who is at least 18 years of age may be eligible to participate in MyHealth Online.

How secure is MyHealth?

When using MyHealth, all communications between you and your Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates health care team are carried over a secure, encrypted connection. This secure connection utilizes industry standard Secure Socket Layer (SSL) 128-bit encryption as well as server-side digital certificate authentication to ensure secure data transmission. To prohibit unauthorized access, all medical information is stored behind our firewall in our electronic medical record system. Additionally, you set your own username and password.

How can I be sure that no one else is looking at my medical information?

Your username and password that you use to login are key to protecting the confidentiality of your information.

You create your own username and password; it is your responsibility to keep your password confidential. You should not share this information with anyone else. It is only known by you and is not known by anyone at Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates.

If you believe that someone has found out what your password is, change it immediately!

You can change your password online at any time. Login, and select Change Password from the left-hand navigation options.

What is your privacy policy?

Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates has detailed policies and procedures in place regarding access to all medical records by our staff and employees and has carefully outlined the circumstances under which your medical information may be released to parties outside the organization. These policies conform to state and federal law and are designed to safeguard your privacy.

How do I sign up for MyHealth?

All patients who are eligible to participate in MyHealth may complete and send an application electronically from our website.

What do I need in order to access MyHealth?

To access MyHealth Online, you need:

  • access to a computer
  • an e-mail address that you check regularly
  • access to the Internet
  • Microsoft's Internet Explorer, version 6 or higher OR Netscape, version 8.1 or higher OR Firefox, version 1.5 or higher.
  • a browser that is capable of supporting 128-bit US encryption

I sent my enrollment form, but haven't heard anything. What's going on?

Processing your enrollment in MyHealth Online generally takes three to five business days. If you have not received your access code by then, please contact us.

What should I do if I cannot find my access code?

If you have lost or did not receive your access code, please contact us; directions on obtaining a new access code will be e-mailed to you.

What should I do if my access code is expired?

If your access code is not used within 60 days, it will expire. This is a security precaution. If your code has expired, please contact us; directions on obtaining a new access code will be e-mailed to you.

How do I use MyHealth online to access my child's account?

MyHealth Online is a secure web-based program that lets you communicate electronically with your child's physician's office on non-urgent matters, such as renewing prescriptions, scheduling appointments, or asking questions.

At this time, pediatric access is only available to parents of patients aged 12 and under or children aged 18 and older. To sign up for pediatric access to MyHealth Online, contact your pediatrician's office for an application.

What is an access code?

The access code that we send to you allows you to activate your account and create your own unique username and password. Once you create your username and password, you no longer need the access code and can discard it. You'll use the username and password you created each time you log into MyHealth.

My access code doesn't work — what should I do?

It's possible your access code has expired; it will expire after 60 days. This is a security precaution. Or, if you have already entered your access code, the system will not take it again. Once the access code has been used to activate your account, it becomes invalid.

When I try to login, I get a message that states "login unsuccessful". What's going on?

  • On your keyboard, make sure your Caps Lock Key is not on. The password field is case sensitive.
  • Make sure you do not enter extra spaces in either the MyHealth username or password fields.
  • Be sure you are not using your access code. Your access code is not your username or password. It's a code that it used to activate your account and enables you to create a username and password.

What should I do if I forget my password?

If you forget your password and you have not created a security question, you will need to contact us. If you have set up a security question, you can reset your password. We apologize for any inconvenience and encourage you to call your doctor’s office if a response is needed more quickly.

How soon can I expect a response to my message that I've sent through MyHealth?

Your clinician's office will make every effort to respond to your messages within one business day. Please do not expect replies to your messages over weekends or holidays. If you need to speak with a clinician sooner, please call the office directly. Urgent matters should not be dealt with via MyHealth Online.

I was typing a message and needed to step away for a moment. When I returned I found I was logged out of MyHealth. Why?

MyHealth wants to protect your privacy. While logged into MyHealth, if your keyboard remains idle for 15 minutes or more, you will automatically be logged out of MyHealth. Any information you have typed will be lost. We recommend that you do not leave your MyHealth account open if you are called away. Make it a practice to always log out.

Why are certain test results not posted to my MyHealth account?

Your clincian must authorize the release of your test results in order for them to post to your MyHealth account. Only test results which are considered appropriate for release by the clinician will be accessible through MyHealth. Generally speaking, tests of a very sensitive nature will not be released to MyHealth.
